Eduardo Torres Acosta

Tenerife native Eduardo Torres Acosta has found a new home, making fresh, characterful wines from old vineyards and local grapes on the slopes of Mount Etna.

Eduardo is wholly committed to organic farming and does everything by hand. Today, Eduardo has 8 small plots with a total of 4.5 hectares of land, and his own place to produce the wines. The production is mainly focussed on red and white wines, called “Versante Nord”, the grapes that grow on the cooler side of Mount Etna, faced north. His focus is on the classic local red grapes, such as nerello mascalese and nerello cappuccio, but he also grows garnacha, catarratto, alicante and carricante. In addition, he has two vineyards that are situated slightly higher up the volcano. The height ensures that the grapes ripen less quickly, thus developing maximum flavour.

Despite his young age, Eduardo is already making a name for himself as one of the new Etna winemakers to watch.
