Vieux Chateau Saint Andre

Vieux Chateau Saint Andre is the personal estate ofJean-Claude Berrouet, who has been the winemaker at Petrus for the last 45 years. The chateau benefits from two different kinds of soils on its parcels: clay and limestone giving the wine complexity and elegance. The estate is located in the Montagne-Saint Emilion appellation.

Montagne is a Saint Emilion ‘satellite’, a neighbouring village making wines that mirror the Saint Emilion Grands Crus. Less well known, they offer exceptional value. Montagne, says Robert Parker in his book ‘Bordeaux’, is where you consistently find “some of the deepest, richest wines” and Vieux Chateau Saint Andre is a luscious example.

Jean-Claude Berrouet manages the estate with his son Jean-Francois, their style of wine is all about fruit forward. Therefor, a huge effort throughout the different steps of production is made, to ensure that the maximum amount of fruit is retained- in order to obtain a wine full of charm and finesse.
